Review: Lovehoney Mains Powered Deluxe Magic Wand

She Says:

I've been lusting after a wand vibrator for several months now.  It's fair to say that I found it hard to control my excitement when I received an email at work from the lovely people at Lovehoney informing me that a Lovehoney wand was on its way to me in the post for testing!

The Lovehoney Mains Powered Deluxe Magic Wand, is as the name states, mains powered.  For me this is a massive selling point.  I am a bit of a vibration junkie – I like my vibrations to be continuous and strong, so the power appealed to me in that sense.  Also, we get through a ridiculous number of batteries (re-chargeables never get up to the full power of one-use ones in my opinion), which not only costs us a lot of money but is also pretty bad for the environment.  It comes with a 1.8m long lead, which is fairly long making it easy for most people to access it’s immense power from most locations in their house.  However, if like me your house is pretty sparse in plug sockets, a longer lead would be a useful addition to it’s design.

Review: Give Lube

He says:

First up, the facts. This is a water-based lube, which means it is compatible with all sex toys and condoms. It is also free from glycerine (so shouldn't contribute to any nasty yeast infections) and parabens (which many people have long-term health concerns about, and certainly some people are allergic to). It is sold in three sizes (mini - 30ml, midi - 100ml and maxi - 250ml) at prices comparable to other premium brands. Give lube have very kindly sent us a tube each of the mini and the midi to review.

The packaging of this lube is reasonably discreet and fairly stylish in my opinion. Certainly if it were left on the side or amongst a couple of toiletries my eye would not be drawn to it particularly. The bottles have very secure flip tops. The only major disadvantage of this packaging is that you cannot see how much lube is left in a tube.

I quite like the consistency of this lube. It is thicker than most lubricants formulated for vaginal use, and thinner than most anal lubes. But rather than being a jack-of-all-trades this lube actually feels like it would be up to both tasks. And having tried this for vaginal intercourse, and insertion of toys anally I can report that this is indeed the case. This lube seemed to augment rather than supplant Lucy's natural wetness, and did not dry out at all during use, nor for a considerable time afterwards. For toy use, it spreads nicely and adheres pretty well, so was suitable for this, though did not have quite the same "padding" effect of some specialist anal lubricants.

However, this lube does lack in a couple of areas in my view. Firstly, although unflavoured it does have quite a strong bitter taste. I am pretty confident this comes from the aloe vera (listed by the alternative name aloe barbadensis in the ingredients). What kind of activities you might want to engage in whilst using lube will dictate how much of a problem this is for you. Certainly I find it more palatable than most over-sweetened flavoured lubes.

Sinful Strap-On

As you've probably read, we're big fans of pegging.  This Sinful Sunday I bare all (almost!) in order to show off this seriously sexy strap-on.  The lovely Babes n Horny sent us this set as a little (well huge!) treat, it's the Frisco harness and Mack dildo.  And of course the review will be coming up soon so stay tuned.

Hope you enjoy our entry this week,

Review: Tantus General

He Says:
This is one of the largest dildos Tantus make. As far as toy names go, this one seems particularly apt. It is a scene stealer, in charge of any situation. No matter how much I rationally know the dimensions of a big toy, the immediate reaction when I first see it in the flesh will still be an internal "oooph". But it is not only the size of this dildo that conjures this effect. It suits black (red is the other colour option which would also look good, but maybe slightly less intimidating), and also has a wicked curve to it. This dildo looks wonderfully brutal and menacing in a harness. The other thing of beauty about this is that it is not just wide at the base, but also all the way down its length.

Review: X10 Silicone Anal Beads

She Says:
I really enjoy using anal beads, if you've never tried them before, check out this how to use anal beads article from Lovehoney. The X10 Silicone Anal Beads were the second set of beads we purchased that were suitable to be used by me (Alex also has some ridiculously large ones which aren't going anywhere near my ass... for the time being at least!).

We bought them as a replacement to our original Lovehoney Beginners Anal Beads as we began to lust after silicone replacements for all our existing toys. For those of you who aren't yet convinced on this front, silcone is great because it's body-safe, it's soft, it's non-porous and it's easy to clean - even sterilise in most cases (by boiling for a few minutes in water). There are lots of different types of silicone, some are very soft and flexible, whilst others are more firm. Unfortunately I think that the silicone that has been used to make these beads is too soft and flexible. Maybe you think soft and flexible are good qualities for something you're going to be sticking up your bum? Maybe so for a dildo, but one of the most pleasurable things to do with anal beads is to pull them out just as you're climaxing. I find that as I get closer to orgasm all my muscles tense up, at this point I am squeezing very tight around the beads in my ass. As the material is so stretchy, when I try to pull them out the connecting part between the beads just stretches, the beads are stuck in there, held securely by my tight little asshole. I never had this issue with the previous beads, so I am really disappointed that this is the case with these. I would love to find some beads made of a firmer silicone, or perhaps with a metal/firm plastic core to them in order to avoid this problem but still allow me to enjoy the benefits of silicone.

Review: Babes n Horny Toni

He Says:
Angela's little sister! Toni is made from a fairly firm silicone with a slightly matte finish. The quality is extremely high with no visible mould marks. The shape of the dildo is somewhat curved upwards, with a couple of very subtle bumps (as you can see from our diagram there is only a difference of 1cm in circumference between the largest and narrowest points).

Toni with her big sister Angela!
This dildo is one of the most versatile we own and therefore gets a lot of use. For me I find the width just right if I want some quick penetration without any warm up. Alternatively, this is often what I start off with if I am in the mood for some serious stretching. I have also found one of my favourite uses of this dildo is to strap it to a chair, facing towards my back, and bounce up and down on it. The advantage of this position for me is that it hits my prostate. I do enjoy prostate stimulation, but personally don't get off on it in the way some guys seem to. But it is worth bearing in mind if that is something that really appeals to you (though, as they say, everybody's anatomy is a bit different down there!).

The other way I enjoy anal stimulation is by being pegged by Lucy. I would say this toy is not really good for that in most positions as it is a bit short, and does have a tendency to slide out if the thrusting gets too vigorous (which is prone to happen...).

Aesthetics vary from person to person, but this toy is exactly the right level of "phallic" for me. It obviously looks nothing like a real cock, you are thinking, but there is something about the size and shape that I find particularly reminiscent of a cock. I don't often think of dildos this way, but this one does raise that connection in me.

Book Review: Ed Fox - Glamour from the Ground Up

Last Monday Alex and I were going to London to see a show.  We haven't been into the capital in ages so decided to make a day of it, starting off with a browse around the sex shops of Soho.  It's fun to actually see toys in real life and have a good play (in a non-sexual way of course!) with the display models and things, but the highlight of area for us is one particular bookshop - Soho Original Books.  We've been there a couple of times before and always find that they have a great selection of erotic art and photography books (also lots of other books too, not just sex-related).  They're also very reasonably priced, we purchased three books, all of which were cheaper than their listed price on Amazon.  If you're ever stuck for something to do around London then it's definitely somewhere I would suggest popping in to.

Our First Sinful Sunday

Alex loves dressing up in his lacy underwear, he loves the way it makes him feel.  I love photography, I'm only an amateur but I'd really like to get into it a bit more.  We were trying to get a nice shot of Alex for his Tumblr profile picture the other day.  These are some of our favourites so we thought we would share them with you.  Hope you all have a very Sinful Sunday...

Review: The Female Condom

We thought that we'd push our pre-conceptions (ha) to one side and give the femidom a go... surely it can't be that bad right? I've been on several different forms of the pill, none of which seem to agree with me, so until the male pill is out and about in general use, barrier contraception is something that is really important for us. We're very happy with the condoms we use now, but that doesn't mean to say we're adverse to trying out new (or indeed old) ones on the market.

Happy National Condom Day!

Whoever knew such a thing existed.  But apparently according to the wonder that is the internet, it does.

In order to celebrate we've decided to do a mini comp with a giveaway of a tester pack of our favourite brand of condoms Mates Skyns, which we have also done a review on for you today.  We'll be giving away three packs of three - so enter if you fancy giving them ago (believe me, you do) or if you're already converted and want a few freebies...  All you have to do is follow the directions on the widget below. Comp ends on Sunday - so we'll announce the winners then.

Good luck! Now wrap up and have some fun everyone!

Review: Mates Skyn Condoms

A quick note for our international readers (we mean you girl/guy from Kuwait!). These condoms are sold under the Mates brand in the UK, but are exactly the same condoms which are sold under the Lifestyles brand (as Lifestyles Skyn) in other parts of the world.

She Says:
After years of chopping and changing between pills as a result of experiencing almost every combination of side-effects possible, the time came when I begrudgingly decided to ditch the hormones and go back to condoms. This was almost 4 years ago now, and that's when our search began to find the best condom on the market. After trying various different makes and styles we finally came across Mates Skyn Condoms - an innovative new latex-free product.

Mates Skyn Condoms are made from a material called polyisoprene. They're very thin, but appear to be strong - we've not had one break on us yet (and we have been through a lot!). One of the best things about them from my perspective is that they don't smell like condoms, in fact they are pretty odourless which is a pleasant change. They don't really taste of much either, so if you wanted to use contraception for oral sex these would be pretty good if you didn't want to go for some disgustingly flavoured thing - but to be honest it's not something I make I habit of (with condoms I mean!  Not oral sex in general!). I don't think I have a latex allergy per se,  more like a sensitivity, as I do find myself getting dry and slightly irritated after a long session with latex - neither sensations I get with Skyn's.

Update: Fun Factory Bootie Butt Plug

For those of you that are interested I thought I'd just compose a quick update on the Fun Factory Bootie Butt Plug.  I mentioned in my review before that I wasn't really into butt plugs, and that I'd given it a couple of tries and not been too sure about it - I left Alex to go into the specifics a bit more.

However, since then (as you may have seen in our Tantus Silk Large review) Alex has been doing some anal training with me.  We start off with something small, and play with it until it's feeling very comfortable, and then work our way up until I'm at the brink of pain.

Aim is to get Angela up there eventually, as I am pretty jealous of Alex's ability to do this.  Plus it's a bit of a fantasy of mine to be double penetrated... so I have to prepare myself for that in case the opportunity arises!

Anyway... I was busy writing an upcoming review for Ed Fox's Glamour from the Ground Up, when I found myself getting turned on a little too much... and ended up having to masturbate.  I decided to give the Bootie Butt Plug another go, and boy am I glad I did.  It great up there, especially with a vibe on my clit.  Ended up leaving it in for a couple of hours before it started to get uncomfortable... but at least now I am nice and prepped for when Alex gets home later. We're off to the gym tonight, so for those of you who know about our little pact - you know what that means...

Thought this was important to mention, as it just goes to show that you can end up changing your opinion on toys, particularly anal toys once you start to accustom yourself to that style of play.  I look forward to trying it again in the future - and am very excited about the prospect of trying new toys that this development could open me up to (so to speak!).

Lucy.

Review: Tantus Silk Large

In ancient greek mythology Tantalus was sentenced to punishment in the deepest level of hell.  There, he was condemned to stand in a pool of water, underneath a fruit tree. As he would reach down to attempt to quench his thirst the water receded from his grasp, whilst the branches of the tree would arch away whenever he tried to sate his hunger with a piece of fruit.  It is from this unfortunate that we get the word tantalising, only too apt to describe the look of the tantus silk (do you see what I did there?).

The tantus silk is made of a very smooth silicone, available in either black or purple.  It also comes in different sizes: small, medium and large.  Subjectively we would say that these sizes are modest, with even the large only 12.5 cm around the widest point.  It has a round cross-section, widest around the head, with a gradual narrowing down toward the base.  As with all silicone toys it is perfectly safe and really easy to keep clean (just use sex toy cleaner and warm water, or boil for a few minutes to sterilise) and works really well with a water-based lubricant.

Review: Rampant Rabbit Thruster

She says:

I decided to treat myself to this rabbit vibrator a couple of years ago after getting a rave review from one of my friends who worked in Ann Summers at the time, she also got staff discount for me... which was handy as I don't usually buy Ann Summers toys as they're pretty pricey for what you get.

The Rampant Rabbit Thruster has now been replaced with Rampant Rabbit The Thrusting One, but looking at it it appears to be exactly the same only re-branded and in a different colour.  You can also get one which I can only assume is from the same manufacturer but with different branding from Lovehoney, the Deluxe Ultra Thrusting Waterproof Rabbit Vibrator.

It is made from a TPE/ABS mixture that is latex and phthalates free, so it should be safe - but it's not up to the standard of silicone toys.  Over time this material hasn't worn well, and despite good storage, we have still been victims to the Dali Dildo phenomenon... with parts of it appearing to be melted (see pic).  However, the material is soft, comfortable and cleaned easily.  The vibrator is waterproof and can be fully submerged, which again helps with cleaning (just use your usual antibacterial spray and rinse under warm water) - but unfortunately it can't be sterilized.

Review: Lovehoney Cosmos Orgasmic Glass Dildo

She says:
Alex bought this toy for me about 2 years ago now. It has been very hard wearing so far and still looks as good as new.  It was my first introduction to glass toys and I remember being very intrigued but also slightly apprehensive about it at the time.  If you've never used glass before, the sensation is very new and intense when you first do - I was in complete bliss the first time I tried this one, and with the help of my trusty vibrator on my clit, ended up coming within seconds!  If you're interested to find out more about my general views on glass toys - I'll be blogging about my experience with them soon!

As for the Cosmos in particular, it is a very beautiful object which has a pleasing shape and design.  The coloured swirl that runs through the centre is rather attractive. It comes in a little velvet drawstring bag which is perfect for storing it in and makes sure it doesn't get chipped up against your other glass toys.

Review: Silicone Dolphin Vibrator

She Says:
Unfortunately the Silicone Dolphin Vibrator  is one of those toys that sits hidden away in our drawers most of the time.  It's not particularly good, but it's not so bad that we have wanted to throw it out.

The main body is made of matte finished silicone, and the cap is made from a hard plastic.  It takes two AA batteries and is fully waterproof (which I can vouch for).  The silicone it's made from is of a questionable quality. Although it feels nice to the touch, it has become mottled, discoloured (bleached almost) and stained despite being barely used.

There are seven vibration settings, controlled by repeatedly pressing the on-off button which is integrated into the silicone casing (quite a nice feature). They are as follows: strong vibration, medium vibration, weak vibration, strong-weak-strong-weeeeeak (prolonged weak one!), strong-to-low-to-off, strong-pause-strong and weak-medium-strong.  Personally I find that the only one that does anything for me is the strong vibration... and calling it strong is a bit of a misnomer really.  It's not strong at all, in fact it's pretty feeble, but comparatively speaking it's stronger than the other settings.  The silicone does seem to carry the vibration quite well, so it is a shame that the motor isn't a bit stronger.  The shape allows for a concentrated vibration to be aimed at your clit with the tip of the dolphins nose.  The graduated shape also allows for easy penetration, and it does have a reasonable girth for a vibrator - making it a useful toy if you're in the mood for switching between penetration and clitoral stimulation and don't want to use more than one toy/hand.  I don't really enjoy the sensation of using a vibrating toy internally - but this toy would probably be good for that if you did.

Review: Sliquid H2O

Without lubricant, your car engine would seize up completely or tear itself apart. Without alcohol, the classic social lubricant, the rate of reproduction would plummet and the human race would rapidly become extinct (at least that's what it seems like here in Britain). Lubricant, metaphorically, makes the world go round.
When it comes to sex and sex toys, good lubrication is also incredibly important. And this lubricant is incredibly good. So without further ado, let us introduce you to one of our absolute favourite products - this is Sliquid H2O

Review: Babes n Horny Angela

She says:

Angela was our first ever dildo from Babes n HornyBabes n Horny, for those who don't know, are a UK based manufacturer of silicone sex toys.  Pretty much everything is made to order, with an absolutely huge range of over 50 models, in over 40 different colours and patterns. These range from roughly the size of a finger to the size of a fist. We ordered Angela in the 'Babes Blue' from the Babes Value Range - meaning we got a top class dildo for a much lower price. As BnH put it, "this is still a handmade dildo, but by utilizing the principle of the model T-Ford (any colour as long as it's BLUE) and streamlining the means of production with basic moulds, we can offer lower prices and a faster service".

All of the BnH toys are handmade in their very own London studio (so you can feel safe in the fact that they're ethically made), to a very high standard, from 100% silicone. This means that they're all fully sterilisable, hypoallergenic, non-toxic and wonderfully safe to use.

Review: Fun Factory Bootie Butt Plug

He says:

The Fun Factory Bootie Butt Plug is obviously designed for those new to anal play, or looking for something that they can wear comfortably for an extended period of time. It is made of a flexible purple silicone, with a fairly matte texture. My favourite thing about this toy is the base. When inserted it sits extremely ergonomically between my butt cheeks due the thinness of it, and the curvature and flexibility of it means that length wise it conforms very snugly to my perineum and butt-crack (lovely, I know).

This butt plug from what I've seen is nearly universally regarded as adorable.  I have a couple of comments on this. Firstly, it somewhat reminds me of a baby's dummy. This is somewhat off-putting. The second point is that I personally find cute and sexy to be very different things most of the time. E.g. puppies are cute, Natalie Portman is sexy.

Hello world!

Thanks for having a look at our brand (spanking!) new blog.

What to expect:
The main purpose of our blog is as a sex toy reviewing site.  We'll also post on topics relevant to our own sex lives too (think pegging, anal, toys and the occasional spanking, fisting and bondage...) and anything we feel is interesting and related.

If you're curious to find out a bit more about us, have a look here.

We're completely new to all this - so please do let us know what you like and what you don't.  We've really enjoyed making our content so far, but as we want to make sure it's the kind of thing people want to read, we'd love to hear any advice for improvement.

Hope you enjoy it,

Lucy & Alex.
